| Description | The first part is written in a neo-Caroline hand, closely imitating the script of the 11th and 12th centuries (indeed it has been ascribed to that period by many, but it has the significant pointer of dotted i`s, cf. L Laurand in ‘Revue des études latines’, xi, 11-12); the second part is in a round humanistic hand. Space has been left for a title and for initials to each satire, but these have not been added. There are interlinear and marginal glosses on folios 1-25 (as far as vi. 236), and occasionally thereafter. |

| Description | A selection of over 200 volumes of medieval and early modern manuscripts, dating from the 9th to the 17th century. Some of Scotland's most important early manuscripts are included in the many Scottish volumes. These are complemented by interesting and significant works of international origin, including volumes from France, England, the Low Countries, Italy and a number of other countries. Most of the manuscripts were collected by the Advocates Library, the forerunner of the National Library of Scotland. |
