at Campbeltown, the brotlicr of Uoiiald, they must be lost. These
lcaves contained two other short poems ascribed to Ossian ; I have
copied these two last some years ago ; the one is a gencalogy of Fin-
gal, the other an account of thc ages of the Fingalian hcroes.
13. An octavo paper MS. in the sauie character, poetry for the
most part, but so much defaced, that it can hardly be read ; it is not
old, but the poetry seems to have bcen copicd from a more ancicnt
MS. as the poetry is good ; it has no datc, the name of Tadg Og and
Lauchlan mac Taidg occurs upon it. It must have been written by
the last Macvurichs, from its coarse modern appearance.
14. A very small octavo papcr MS. in the same character, written
by some of the Macvurichs, part of it is a copy of Clanronald's book,
and contains the genealogy of the Lords of the Isles, and others of
that great clan. The sccond part of the MS. consists of a gcncalogy
of the Kings of Ireland (ancestors of thc Macdonald's) from Scota and
Gathelic. The last date upon it is 16 IC.
15. A paper MS. in thc same charactcr. A genealogy of thc Kings
of Ireland, without a date, and consisting of a few leaves stitched.
16. A papcr MS. same character, consisting of detachcd Icaves of
dilTercnt sizcs, and upon different subjects, viz. the conclusion of a
Gaelic chronicle of tho kings of Scotland down to King Robcrt III.
a Fingalian tale, in which thc heroes are Fingal, Goll Mac Morni,
Oscar, Ossian, and Conan ; and upon the unwritten part of a lctter
sent to Donald Macvurich of Stiilgary, is a poem by Macdonald of
Bcnbecula, datcd 1722, who seems to have been the last, or rather
father to the bard of that name. A poeDi by Donald Mackenzie, one
by Tadg Og CC, copied from some otlier MS. A pocm by Donald
Macvurich, upon Rouald Macdonald of Clanronald. Several hymns
by Tadg, and many othcr good poems by the Macvurichs, and others.
17. A paper MS. in thc sanie character, consisting of religious
tracts and genealogy, in loose detached leaves, without namc or date.
18. A paper ]MS. of some small detached leaves, containing in-
structions for children in Gaelic and English, quite modern, no date.
19. Remnant Icaves of a papcr MS. with the name Cathclus Mac.
vurich upon some of the lcavcs, and Niall Macvurich upoii others.
Cunn Mac an Deìrg, a well known ancient poem, is written in the
Roman character by the last Niall Macvurich, the last bard, and
father to Laivhlan, who still livcs. This pocm is the only one in all
