OLD-IRISH PARADIGMS
SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD
There are two modes of forming the subjunctive mood : (i)
the -á- subjunctive, (2) the -s- subjunctive.
-á- subjunctive.
ACTIVE AND PaSSIVE
Present Subjunctive.
A(i)
SINGULAR
NoTE, — Some verbs with a in the radical s^^llable of the
indicative have e in the radical syllable of the subjunctive, e.g.
at-baill, at-bail, dies : subj. at-bela.
A(2)
The material is insufficient for a complete paradigm. The
following are occurring forms from benaid, cuts, do-forban,
pervenit, for-fiun, exanclo, crenaid, buys, ara-chrin, perishes,
glenaid, adheres, lenaid, foUows, renaid, sells (in the past
subjunctive also from ro-cluinethar, hears).
