But when Fillan conquers, in one wing, Foldath
prelTes hard on the other. He wounds Dermid , the
fon of Duthnc , and puts the Avhple wing to flight.
Dermid deliberates with himfelf, and, at laft, refol-
ves to put a ftop to the progrefs of Foldath , by
engaging him in fingle combat, When the
two chiefs were approaching towards one another ,
Fillan came fuddenly to the relief of Dermid ; enga-
ged Foldath, and killed him. The behaviour of Mai-
thos towards the fallen Foldath. Fillaii puts the
v;hole army of the Fir -bolg to flight. The book
