B' òg 's a' mhaduinn e 'brCichdadh —
Sheachd 'us shùigh e trà-nòin.
Chuir thu mise gu smaointinn,
Nach innis mi 'dhaoine ;
'S mairg 'chuir ùigh aims an t-saoghal,
'S iomadh caochladh 'teachd oirnn.
Ged tha càirdean gu deurach.
'S faoin an cumha learn fein e,
'Theid gu cuirm 'us cùirt èibhneis,
'Giùlan èidetidh a' bhròin.
Gred tha m' èideadh gun mhùtlmdh,
'S mi gun deur air mo shùilibh,
Gus an cuir iad 's an ùir mi,
Bidh mi 'd ionndrainn ri m' bheò.
Chionn bu toigh leam an nìonag —
Bu ro-thoigh leani an nìonag !
Mo sgeul dubhach ga' innseadh,
Thu 'bhi 'd shìneadh fo 'n fhòid.
