The four Johns were John Macrae,
tacksman of Conchra; John Murchison,
tacksman of Auchtertyre; John Macken-
zie, son of the laird of Applecross, and John
Mackenzie, of Hilton. They were officers
under the Earl of Seaforth at Sheriffmuir,
and were killed in that battle. The Uill-
eam cliuiteach referred to is the Earl of
Seaforth, Uilleam Dubh.
