Wallacetown is a thickly-populated dis-
trict adjoining Newton. The church of the
Establishment, erected here in 1836, at an
expense of nearly £1,500, has sittings for
upwards of 800 persons. The Roman
Catholic chapel, erected in 1826-7, at a cost
of about £2,000, is an edifice in the Gothic
style, fronted with freestone.
WhitHetts is a small village in St. Quivox
ward, parish of Ayr, and distant therefrom
about li miles east.
