The Scottish Equitable is a Pdeeiy Mutual Office, and tTin wJwle profits helong to tin Member$,
who are, at the same time, expressly exempted from personal responsibilit}j.
The PROFITS are ascertained every fifth year, and Prospective Additions are paid to the data
of Death, so that every Policy obtains its full share of the Profits up to the day on which it beeomea
a Claim.
The Bonus is allocated not only on the original sums assured, hat also on the previously Vested
Additions ; each Member thus draws a share of the Surplus corresponding to his Contributions,
and proportionally increased benefits are properly conferred upon those Blembers who havo con-
tributed longest to the Funds.
At the Elete>"TH Division oe Pbofits of the Society, up to 1st March, 1873, the Surplus
realized during the five years preceding amounted to £192,236. This surplus enabled tha
Directors to declare a reversionary bonus ranging, according to the age of the policies, from £\ to
£\ 16s. lOd. per c«nt per annum on the original sums assured ; and the total additions thus made
to the policies amounted to .£300,818.
The ToTAii Bonus Additions amount to £2,012,982.
At tile close of the Fobty-I'ietii Teab, on 1st Maech, 1876,
The Existing Assurances, including Bonus Additions, amounted to iS7, 755,477.
The Annual Revenue,
From Premiums of Assurance 201,821.
From Interest and Dividends 93,257.
From Assignment Fees and Fines 120.
Total 295,198.
And The Accumulated Funds to 2,227,210.
By Resolutions recently passed, the conditions as to Foreign Residence and Travel havo been
made much more libeeal, and at the same time geeatlx simplified.
Loans are granted in connection with Life Insurance, on Life Interest, Reversions, and other
approved Security. The Directors are also prepared to entertain proposals for the sale of Reversions
to the Society.
The ANNUAii Repoet, containing particulars of the Investments and the Balance Sheet, Forms
of Proposal, and all information, may be obtaiued on application at the Head Office, or any of the
Society's Agencies.
