Un the 29th of last month, I witnessed the Public Examination of all the Classes in the AcadtP
conducted by James Browning, Esq. M.A., at Bonnington Park, Peebles. In English Grammar
Elocution— In British and General History— in French, Arithmetic and Geometry -the Pupils displas
proficiency seldom equalled or approached in Educational Institutions from which Classics are exclude
while in the Latin and Greek Languages and Literature, they displayed accuracy, depth, variety, j
command of knowledge, which were never surpassed in any of our Metropolitan Grammar Schools,
fact, the results exhibited on the occasion to which I refer, strengthened a conviction I have entertaii
for many years, that Mr. Browning is at once an accomplished scholar, and one of the best teachers

Ought to be laid with ASPHALTE.
The Subscriber has now succeeded in the finish of his Asphalte Pavement to produce a firi
stone coloured surface, which it retains, instead of the objectionable dark colour.
Flat Roofs, Water Tanks, Curling Ponds Asphalted.
The most satisfactory references can be made for Work done iu every County in the South Easis
East, and North of Scotland.
