SAVINGS' BANKS.
Alloa Town Mission. — The business of this useful Institution
is conducted at the Commercial Bank, the smallest sum receivable
being one shilling. Hours for receiving and paying money, 6 to 8 on
Wednesday evenings. The amount deposited in the Alloa Savings'
Bank is large, and steadily increasing. Trustees: — Messrs J. Mel-
vin, Aw. Mitchell, A. Thomson, J. F. Thomson. Archibald Moir,
Treasurer.
Post-Office Savings' Bank.— In addition to the other banks,
there is also the Post-Office Savings' Bank, constituted under an Act
of Parliament, entituled " An Act to grant additional facilities for
depositing small savings of money, with the security of the Govern-
ment for due repayment thereof."
Penny Savings' Banks have been formed in Alloa, Tillicoultry,
Dollar, Alva, Saucbie, and Coalsnaughtou ; and embrace a consider-
able number of depositors. A Penny Savings' Bank has been in
existence in Menstry since 1868.
At Dollar there is likewise a Penny Savings' Bank— Castle
Campbell Baud of Hope Savings' Bank— John M'Diarmid.
