Service, and, having acquired a considerable fortune, returned |
to Scotland, and was for some years an M.P. He died at Alva |
in 1795. This gentleman was the fourth son of Sir James U
Johnstone, M.P., the third Baronet of Westerhall.
James Orr, Esq. of Castle Campbell and Harviestoun
son of the late Francis Orr, of Glasgow, by Mary, daughter of
John Glen, of Lumloch, County of Lanark. In 1874 he
succeeded his brother, the late Sir Andrew Orr, who was a
Magistrate for the Counties of Lanark and Clackmannan, and
who was Knighted when Lord Provost of Glasgow, in 1858.

MoiR, James M 'Arthur, Esquire of Hillfoot, born 1844,
second son of the late John M 'Arthur Moir, who died 16th
December, 1871, in the 74th year of his age, and was succeeded
by his eldest son, Mr John M 'Arthur Moir. Mr M 'Arthur
Moir, junr., died unmarried, amid general regret, on 4th
December, 1872, aged 30 years, and he again is succeeded by
his brother,the present Mr Jas. M 'Arthur Moir, who is marx-ied.
Besides the Hillfoot estate, parish of Dollar, there are also those
of Milton, county of Argyle, and Lawhill, county of Perth.
Ramsay, Robert George Wardlaw, of Whitehill and
Tillicoultry, son of Robert Balfour Wardlaw Ramsay, by Lady
Louisa- Jane, third daughterofGeorge, 8th Marquis of Tweeddale,
born in 1853. This family is descended from the very ancient
House of Wardlaw Barons of Torrie, which made a distinguished
figure in the early history of Scotland. Mr Wardlaw Ramsay,
grandfather of the late Robert Balfour Wardlaw, was the son of
Captain William Wardlaw, R.N., by Elizabeth his wife,
daughter and heiress of Robert Balfour Ramsay, whose mother
was Ann, daughter and heiress of Sir Alexander Ramsay, the
3rd Baronet of Whitehill.
Right Hon. Wm. Patrick Adam, of Blairadam, late M.P.
for the United Counties of Clackmannan and Kinross, eldest
son of the late Admiral Sir Charles Adam, K.C.B. of Blair-
adam, Governor of Greenwich Hospital, and many years M.P.
for the United Counties, by Elizabeth his wife, daughter of
the late Patrick Brydone, Esq., F.R.S., b. in 1823, m. in 1856
Emily, eldest daughter of Gen. Sir Wm. Wyllie, K.C.B. , to whom
the precedency of a baronet's widow has been granted by patent.
