ALVA YEAELY FRIENDLY SOCIETY.
This Society has beec. established for a good many years.
President, John Baird ; Secretary, William M'Kenzie;
Treasurer, James Small.
Alva.— The Alva Funeral Society was established in June 1868,
and has a membership at present of 234. Capital about £120.
Benefits to members at death range from £1 10s, £3, up to £6.
President, George Coventry; Secretary, AVm. M'Kenzie; Treasurer,
John Thompson.
Tillicoultry Parish Friendly Society for Funerals —
Instituted in 1824.^ — The purpose of this society is "to provide a
fund for contributing tov/ards the funerals of members, their wives,
widows, and children." The present members number 380, repre-
senting about 1,700 who have a claim upon the society. Preses,
Wm. Campbell ; Treasurer, James Chalmers ; Clerk, Peter
Smeaton ; Collectors— for the town of Tillicoultry, David Fraser ;
and for Devonside and Ooalsnaughton, Alex, Hunter.
Tillicoultry Yearly Friendly Society for Sickness. —
Members' subscription is 7s per annum, payable during the first
seven months ; and aliment is given at the rate of 8s a week for
the first three months of illness, and 5s per week afterwards.
Chairman, John Robertson ; Secretary, Peter Drummond ;
Treasurer, William Kennie. Average number of members, 64.
Kincardine Death Fund Society.— Jas. Jamieson, President;
Andrew Crocket, Secretary ; Eobert Cumming, Treasurer. Mem-
bers, 360. Average yearly expenditure, £170.
Culross. — There is an old established Funeral Society here.
Aliment at death, £6. Treasurer, Mr Miller, gardener ; Collector
—John Wishart.
"THE CLUB."
An institution, under this designation, was organized in
Alloa, December, 1874. The members meet in a room in the
Museum Hall, which has been specially set apart as a reading-
room and billiard -room for the use of the members. President,
Alex. Nicol, Esq.; secretary, Mr David Thomson ; treasurer,
Mr Forrester Thomson.
