The County of Clackmannan, it may be appropriate here
to remark, occupies the anomalous position of having parishes
within its circumference politically, which it does not embrace
judicially. We have, for example, Alva in Stirlingshire, and
Kincardine and Culross in Perthshire, while politically all these
are incorporated with the County of Clackmannan, which
unites with Kinross-shire in returning a member to Parliament,
Even geographically, the parishes specified are incorporated
with Clackmannanshire, but the parties more immediately
interested have hitherto expressed their desire for a continu-
ance of the present anomalous arrangement.
