Alloa St John's Episcopal Church— Tncum.: Arthur W. Hallen, M.A.
In August 1869, the Episcopal body left the Church on the
Clackmannan Road, and commenced worship in that richly-
decorated church erected in Broad Street. In Alva, Episcopal
services are conducted in the Norton school every Sunday
afternoon or evening. Pastor : A. W. Hallen.
Dollar St James' Episcopal Chapel— Pastor, Rev. Alexander Troupe.
St Mango's Church, Alloa : Rev. James Donlevy. The Roman
Catholic body now worship in the old Episcopal Chapel, having
acquired it by purchase after its disuse by the Episcopalians.
James Scott has been pastor since 1838 of the Baptist Church in Alloa.
Adherents of the New Jerusalem Chiirch are addressed by Mr John
M'Lachlan (or some other preacher), in the Meeting House,
50 Mill Street, every Sunday. A new place of worship at
Greenfield will b 3 shortly opened by this body. The late Mr
Allan Drysdale, who did so mnch for the diffusion of New
Church views in Alloa, died on 12th cf May last.
Pastor of the Evangelical Union Church, Tillicoultry : Rev. James
Davidson.
A body of the "Christian Brethren," meet for worship in Hamilton
Street Hall, Tillicoultry.
The "Independent" congregation (formed in 187'2) meets in a new
and ornate place of worship (at the head of t'le Moss Road, Tilli-
coultry), opened on Sunday, 11th June las^. Pastor — Rev. E.
D.Solomon.
Prayer rneetings are held every Wednesday evening in the
Established, Townhead, 'WestU.P., East and West Free Churches,
Alloa, at 8 o'clock; in Union Free Church (High Street) at 7.30; and
on the first Wednesday of each month, a united prayer meeting cf
all the Presbjrfcerian congregations is held in the various Churches
in town, in rotation, at 8 p.m.
