THE CORPORATION OF THE
SCOTTISH PEOYIDENT INSTITUTION.
HEAD OFFICE— 6 ST. ANDRE^r SQUARE, EDINBURGH
SHORT STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES,
THIS SOCIETY differs in its j)riiiciples from any otlier Office.
Instead of cliarging rates admittedly higher than are
necessary, and afterwards returning the excess, or a portion
of it, in the shape of Periodical Bonuses, it gives from the tirst
as large an Assurance as the Premiums will Mdth safety bear —
reserving the Whole Surplus for those who live long enough
to secure the Common Fund from loss.
A Policy for £1200 to £1250 may thus in most cases be had
for the Premium usually charged for £1000 only ; while, by
rese'vingtliQ surplus, large additions may be ex^Dected on the
Policies of those who live to particiijate. In a few cases,
Policies sharing at the whole four divisions have already
been doubled.
ITS TEPvMS are thus well calculated to meet the require-
ments of intending Assurers. They are speciall}^ adapted to
the case of Provisions in Family Settlements, where it is of
importance to secure, for the smallest present outlay, a com-
petent provision, of definite amount, in the case of early death.
