PREFACE.
The Publishers of the Post-Office Greenock Directory
beg to thank the Subscribers and the Pubhc generally for
the kind support accorded them on previous occasions, and
assure them the utmost care has been bestowed on the pre-
sent issue to have it as correct as possible. The Publishers
trust it may be found both useful and acceptable.
The Directory for Gourock is continued.
The Plan of the Town, as heretofore, is by John
Bartholomew, Esq., F.R.G.S., Edinburgh, and having been;
very carefully corrected up to the present time, it may be
relied on as being thoroughly accurate.
The Publishers, while deeply regretting the long severe
depression of trade, believe the signs of the times point to
a brisker and more settled state of the staple trades of our
Town, and they earnestly hope the former prosperity may
soon return and be an accomplished fact.
Post-Office,
Greenock, Ju7ie, 1888.
