DAWSOP^'S PATENT DRIER.
The superiorily of tliis Drier over all otliers, (it being well attested Ly some of the most eminent Paint-
ers), in causing all kinds of Paints, to dry in a miich shorter period, than can be obtained by the use of
any other Driers known to the trade. It is particularly recommended for Ship Painting, out of door Work,
or Public Offices, where qiiick dispatch is required. W. D. begs 'to intimate, that in consequence of
various spurious compositions having been sent out in Powder, and other Shapes, as Patent Drier, to the
detriment of the Genuine Article, to prevent such impositions in future, each Cask willbe branded " DAW-
SON'S PATENT DRIER."
JV.B. — None are Genuine unless Branded as above.
DAWSOfSJ'S ROYAL VICTORIA BLUE,
To Ladies who are particular in the appearance and colour of their MUSLINS, LACES, and general FA-
MILY LINEN — to Laundresses, who would save themselves expense and repeated labour of fresh rins-
ings—should use only DAWSON'S ROYAL VICTORIA BLUE ; it can with confidence be recommend-
ed, as being superior to any other Blue for colouring water fit for rinsings, and imparting a beautiful and
lasting whiteness to the various products of the Loom To test the superiority of Dawson's Royal Victoria
Blue over all others offered for sale, the following easy experiments can be made to prove the fact, viz. —
Take two wine glasses of clear water — get a fig of the very best blue you can procure, and dissolve a small
portion in one of the glasses; in the otlier glass, dissolve a little of Dawson's Royal Victoria Blue; let
them stand for a short time, and you will see the reason why the Blues in general use get into the plaits,
and otherwise leave specks and blotches on the Linen ; the colouring matter in them is insoluble and will
not mix with water, but falls to the bottcm in muddy flakes, and particles, being merely, and during agitation
only, a dark dingy colour in the water. — Dawson's Royal Victoria Blue, on the contrary, combines with the
water, and gives it the true Smalts, or Powder Blue Colour, but it is superior even to smalts in this respect,
that it is held in perfect solution, and never " settles" thus, while the fig Blues dry on the Linen in patches,
this unequalled BUie enters with the water, into the minutest part of the fabric, and hence arises the beauty,
clearness, and permanency of the whiteness it. imparts.
Price One Penny per Cake, which will colour upwards of 30 gallons water, to be used as Stone Blues,
but in smaller portions- — the colouring matter being so much stronger.
To Gicncis of t^tcam Boat:', founders, Gas CVs, 4"c.
DAWSOr^'S PATENT JOliSSTir^G POWDER,
The Patent Jointing Powder is particularly recommended for Jointing Steam, Water, and Gas Pipes, Gas-
ometers, Stone, Water Tanks, &c. as it will be found to surpass White or Red Lead, in making Joints (and su-
perior to Iron Rust), where disjiatch is required, as Steam Heat can be applied immediately to the Joint
made with the Patent Jointing Powder; Prepared Oil, and Directions for Use, will be sent with the Powder.
The following are a few of tlie advantages in using Dawson's Patent Jointing Powder, which is now so gene-
rally used and approved for uniting the Joints of Steam Pipes, &c : — A Joint put together with this Powder,
and heat applied, will, in three or four hours become perfectly hard, and from its peculiar property of pre-
serving the surface of the metal, a joint may be very soon disunited. It will harden under water, and when
once set, no art can soften it again. It can be used in the form of tliick paint for the inside joints of New
Boilers, to prevent what are called Blows or Leaks and corrosion. Leaky old Boilers can be kept in good
working condition for some months after being painted inside with the Patent Jointing Powder, which must
belaid onto the consistency of thick cream. When, hard it will stand a considerable degree of heat, and
can he used about Metal Flues leading from Shop Stoves, or Repairs of Furnaces. To Owners of Steam
Boats, Gas Companies, &c., it is particularly recommended, for dispatch, durability, and economy, and will
also be found superior to any cement or mastic in use for Jointing Water Tanks, Steam Pipes, &c.
ALL THE ABOVE ARE MANUFACTURED AT THE
North British Blue asid Colour Works, Blbe Street, Leith.
