route they are intended to be sent; in the following List the route by which they are sent, if not
specially addressed, is put first after the name of the place; but, in cases where the letters
are posted unpaid, which require to be paid by that route, or if they are addressed by a
route which requires to be paid, they will not be returned to the writers for Postage, but will be
despatched, if possible, by other routes unpaid.
The letter P., denominates when the Postage must be paid in advance. — O., when thepayment of the
Postage is Optional. C , ivhen the British Rate must be paid to Calais; and D., when the Postage
viay be paid to Destination.
ABYSSINIA.— No regular Mails. Letters
should be addressed to the care of an agent at
" Malta," as direct opportunities seldom occur.
AFRICA. — To places in Africa not mentioned

via Marseilles, by which all letters are forwarded
unless otherwise directed, 5th of each month. 0.

ton, 1st of every month. O. Is 6d. By French
Packet Boats, which leave Marseilles on 1st, 11th,
and 21st of each month. O. or D., British, 5d;

AMERICA, (BRITISH NORTH.)— Sent via
Liverpool, 2d and 17th of every month, except
the months of December, January, February, and
March, when that of the 2d only is dispatched.
The postage to all parts of Canada, Nova Scotia.
(Halifax excepted,) Frince Edward's Island, and
New Brunswick, is O. Is 2d; to Halifax and
Newfoundland, 0. Is. Letters for Canada, if di-
rected via Boston, are sent in the United States
mail. P. Is.

South Wales, and Port Philip, by Packet on the
last day but two of each montli. 1\ U. But
to Van Diemen's Land, South Australia, Western
Australia or New Zealand, there are no regular
mails. See Ship Letters. Or may be sent by
Packet as above, if put under cover to an agent
at Sydney.
AUSTRIA.— Fw France daily— O. or D., Bri-
tish, .Od; foreign. Is. Via Hamburg, (Sunday
and Wednesday.) P. Is lOd. Or at the same
rate by Belgium, if addressed " via Ostend," and
may also be sent by Holland, if addressed " via
Rotterdam:" P. 8d.
AZORES. — Via Southampton, every Tuesday.

BADEN. — Every Sunday and Wednesday.

tunities by " private ship " seldom occur, letters

daily, O. or C or D., British, 5d; foreign. Is 3d.
BELGIUM.— Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
and Saturday, by Thames Packet to Ostend. P.
Is 6d. Or may be sent via France daily, C, or
through France. British, 5d; foreign, lOd. Steam-
boats leave Hull every Wednesday during sum-
mer, for Antwerp; by which letters may be sent
as Ship letters.
