THE STANDARD LIFE ASSURANCE COMPANY is the
chief Proprietary Office in Scotland, and the success which has attended its
business places it among the first institutions in the Kingdom for the Assurance of
Lives. It was established in 1825, and is constituted by Act of Parliament.
CAPITAL AND INCOME.
The Capital of the Company is Five Hundred Thousand Pounds; besides which,
it possesses a large fund, accumulated in the course of the business, wholly applica-
ble to the purposes of the Institution.
The Income of the Company is upwards of £120,000 per annum.
ASSURANCES
may be effected, either with or without Participation in the Profits of the Company,
on Single Lives, or on a Combination of Lives, Parties can also effect Assurances
on the Lives of others.
The principal sums in the Company's Policies, whether with or without Participa-
tion of Profits, are secure, and certain in amount, being guaranteed by the Com-
pany's Protecting Capital, while the Bonus Additions to Participating Policies are
allocated in such a manner as to allow the greatest benefit to those who, from their
lengthened survivance, are called upon to make the greatest number of payments ;
and these Additions, when vested, may be surrendered at any time for a present
payment, or a corresponding reduction will be made in the future Annual Payments,
at the option of the party assuring.
DIVISION OF PROFITS.
The Standard Life Assurance Company has already divided Profits among its
Policy-holders on three different occasions, at 15th November, 1835, being ten years.
from the commencement of the business,— at 15th November, 1810, — and at 15th
November, 1845.
