The London Mail arrives every afternoon at 3 o'clock, and is dispatched
at half-past 8 o'clock at night. Letters must be put into the Office before
8. The North Mails, by Oldmeidrum, Banff, and Inverness, and that by
Kintore and Huntly to Fochabers, are dispatched at 4 o'clock in the after-
noon, and arrive from half past 6 to 8 at night. The Buchan Mail, from Pe-
terhead, by Mintlaw and Ellon, arrives at 3 o'clock, and is dispatched at 4
afternoon. The Deeside Rider, from Kincardine O'Niel, by Banchory, ar-
rives daily at half past 2, and is dispatched at 4 o'clock. The Skene and
Alford Runner, every day, at half past 2, and dispatched at 4 o'clock. —
There is also a Runner to Maryculter and Durris, on Monday, Wednes-
day, and Saturday, dispatched at 4 o'clock. Letters must be put into the
Office for the North, Buchan, and other Roads, befci-e the arrival of the
South Mail, otherwise they cannot go for-ward that night.
The jMails for North America and the West Indies are made up at Lon-
don the first Wednesday of every month ; and letters from hence must be
in on or before the Saturday before first Wednesday — postage, 2s. 7d. and
those for the American States must be paid at in-giving.
Letters for the East Indies, Cape of Good Hope, Mauritius, and Ceylon,
go by regular ships — postage Is. 5d. and must be paid at in-giving. News-
papers, Id. per ounce.
Letters for France go eveiy Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday —
postage 2s. 3d. ; and Italy, Turkey, and Switzerland, (through France,) 3s. ;
Spain, 3s, 3d. ; Holland and Netherlands, 2s. 5d. ; Germany, Russia, Prus-
sia, and Denmark, (through Hamburgh,) 2s. 9d. ; Sweden, 2s. 9d. ; Por-
tugal, 2s. lid. ; Malta, 3s. 7d. ; Sicily, 3s. 7d. ; Sardinia, 3s. 7d. ; Madeira,
Ssf; Brazils, 3s. lid.; Gibraltar, 3s. 3d. — And all must be paid here,
otherwise they will be opened, and returned for the postage.
The post days for Holland are Monday and Friday — Hamburgh ditto —
Sweden ditto — the Leeward Islands, Saturday before first and third Wed-
nesday of every month — Madeira and Brazils, Friday before first Tuesday,
every month — Portugal, every week, Friday — Gibraltar, Malta, and Medi-
terranean, Friday before first Tuesday, monthly.
The postage of ship letters from the East Indies, is 4d. — All other letters
from on board of any ship is 8d. over and above the inland rates ; and so
in proportion for double, treble, and ounce letters.
