Instituted 1821.— Capital £550,000.
THE SUMS INSURED WITH THIS OFFICE AMOUNT TO NEARLY
SEVENTY MILLIONS STERLING.
IN this Society the rates are very liberal, and there is also tbist
peculiar advantage, that Dividends are Declared upon the amount
of Premium contributed, and paid to Insurers periodically.
Policies transferred from other Offices free of expense.

JL powered by Act of Parliament to Insure against Loss by Fire,
and to undertake all manner of Risk contingent on Life.
The Company offers great variety and convenience in the Mode of
Insuring.
Policies are issued on the Mutual Insurance principle, so that all
Profits of the Scheme are distributed among the Policy-holders, under
a limited expense for managing it.
The Profits are ascertained every fifth year, and added to the sum
insured. Every succeeding increase is computed on the original sum
increased by the vested additions to it ; thus a rapid accumulation is
made to the Policy without increasing the Premium required.
Policies are also issued at Reduced Rates for a fixed sum.
The Company offers to Insurers the choice of these methods ; by
the first of contributing to a Fund whose surplus is added to their
Policies ; or by the other, of paying at the lowest rates consistent with
perfect security for a fixed benefit.
