1 1th, Brace's Mortification, under the patronage of the
Provost, Dean of Guild, the three first Ministers, and the
Rector of the Grammar School, from which one boy re-
ceives yearly .£8 6s. 8d. for maintenance and education.
12th, Constable's Mortification, under the patronage
of the Provost, Dean of Guild, and Minister of the Parish,
from which fourteen boys receive £S yearly for education,
for four years.
Besides these, the Kirk Session pay the School Fees
of Children of poor parents, for two years : the number
of these in general is from 50 to 60; making a total of
287 — independent of the Orphan Institution, where
nearly twenty children are boarded and educated. ..
