BOOK POST,
The rate of postage is One Halfpenny for every 2 oz., or fraction
thereof. All letters or sealed enclosures in a Book Packet are for-
bidden, A Book Packet may contain any matter wholly printed on
paper, or any other written or printed matter, not being in the
nature of a letter, drawings, photograjDhs, engravings on paper,
maps, plans, invoices, orders for goods, credit notes, way-bills, bill
of lading, receipts, statements of accounts, prices current, and
market reports ; that the only writing on the documents shall be
the dates, prices of goods, and mode of consignment. Manuscript
for press, and printed proofs with corrections and instruction,
examination papers with corrections. Circulars, that is, printed
notices and letters, that the circular may be corrected in writing
name and address of sender.
EXPRESS DELIVERY.
Letters and Parcels are sent out for special delivery at the
following rates, viz. : — For lib., 3d per mile or part thereof, and for
every additional lib. or part thereof, IM ; if the sender wishes a
cab to be used, the fare in addition must be prepaid.
Single Post Letters by Railway. — An agreement exists be-
tween the Post Ofl&ce and certain Railway Companies for the con-
veyance of Letters not exceeding 1 oz. at a charge of 2d in addition
to the postage of Id. The postage must be prepaid in stamps and
2d in cash. When the letter reaches the terminal station it will be
posted at the nearest Post Office receptacle.
POST OFFICE MONEY ORDERS. POSTAL ORDERS. &c.
Inland Money Orders. — The rates are : —
On Sums not exceeding £1, .. ... ... 2d.
Above £1 and not exceeding £3,... ... ... 3d.
£3 and not exceeding £10, ... ... ... 4d.
No Order issued above £10.
Telegraph Money Order transactions are made between all Offices
authorised to transact Telegraph and Money Order business at a
charge of for sums not exceding £3 4d, and above £3 and not ex-
ceeding £10 6d, and a minimum cost of 6d for the official telegram.
Foreign Money Orders. — The regulations are the same as for
Inland Orders at the following rates of commission, viz. : — For
sums not exceeding £2, 6d ; £5, Is ; £7, Is 6d ; £10, 2s.
Postal Orders. — Postal Orders are issued at all Money Order
Offices for fixed sums, for which a poundage is made, viz. : —
1/- and 1/6, ^d.
2/-, 2/6, 3/-, 3/6, 4/-, 4/6, 5/-, 7/6, 10/-, and 10/6, ... Id.
15/- and 20/-, J4d.
