FINE ARTS.
DOUGLAS HARVEY,
NEWMARKET STREET,
"OESPECTFULLY announces to the public of Ayr
O/ and its vicinity, that he has i-ecently commenced to
practise the art of PORTRAIT PAINTING. He is
well aware that the announcement would rather savour of
ostentation on his part were he to assert that he excels, or
was qualified even to compete with, those who have studied
under, and got the finishing polish from, the most celebrated
masters. All that he intends at present, is merely to inform
those who may feel inclined to honour him with their com-
mands, that he can refer them to a number of Likenesses
which he has recently taken of Ladies and Gentlemen in
Ayr and the suburbs, which, with due deference, he will
submit for their inspection, and, when compared with
the living originals, he will leave them to judge for them-
selves.
D. H. will either take sittings at his own house, or at-
tend at the residences of tho^e who may honour him with
their orders.
Ayr, July, 1845.
