The objects of the club are— (1) The encourage-
ment of the -ft earing of the Highland dress ; (2) the
preservation and practice of Highland music and
dancing; and (3) the study of the language, litera-
ture, history, and antiquities of the Higiilands.
CITY OF GLASGOW NATIVE BENEVOLENT
ASSOCIATION.
Its object is to assist natives, and widows and
families of natives, of the city of Glasgow, who have
been in good circumstances, but from reverses of
fortune, or otherwise, are in need of assistance. A
payment of i)6 5s., either in one sum at entry or by five
successive yearly instalments of £1 Is., constitutes

The object of the association is to form a centre
for educational and social work of various kinds in
the east-end of Glasgow, similar to that carried out
at Toynbee Hall, London.
PERTHSHIRE CHARITABLE,
The principal object of this society, the qualifica-
(tion for membership of which consists of a small sum
■of entry-money, is to afford relief to persons in indi-
gent circumstances, natives, or widows of natives of
Perthshire, and their children resident in Glasgow
i and the neighbourhood, or passing through the city
f: unexpectedly falling into distress.

GLASGOW HOME FOR DESERTED MOTHERS.
Tlie home was established to supply a temporary
shelter and maintenance for destitute and houstless
mothers and their helpless infants. Only those who,
for the first time, have been led astray are admitted,
dnd it is no part of the home tO make matters light
and easy for the girls and thereby probably encourage
sin. The anxious aim and desire of all connecttd
with the Institution is to prevent them falling ioto
de.^pair, and so deepenilig their difficulties. Every
effort is nade to procure suitable situitions for the
mothers, who are expected (except under peculiar and
exceptional circumstances) to defray all necessary
expenses connected with the rearing and upbringing of
their children.

The society was instituted in 1791 for the purpose
of providing a fund out of which certain allowances
