At the end of 1892 there remained on the books
of the Infirmary 1978 cases ; the number of new
cases admitted in 1893 was 13,438, making the total
number of cases under the care of the medical officers
during the year 15,416, as against 14,599 in 1892.

Gratuitous advice to the poor afflicted with diseases
of the skin .ind hair, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and
Fridays, at 2 o'clock p.m. In connection with the
Hospital two wards for skin diseases are provided in
the Western Infirmary, to which the directors have power
to send the more serious cases. Upwards of 40,000
patients have been treated since the foundation of
the Hospital. A practical course for students is
held during the months of May, June, and July, each
year ; fee. Two guineas. The Hospital is entirely sup-
ported by voluntary contrit)utions.

The objects of this institution are the medical and
surgical treatment of poor children sufiering from non-
infectious diseases or accidents; to provide a dis-
pensary and furnish advice and medicine to those
who cannot be received into the hospital ; to pro-
mote the advancement of medical science with refer-
ence to the diseases of children ; and to provide for
the clinical instruction of students, the training of
nurses for children during illness, and the instruction
of lady pupils in the care of sick children. The hos-
pital, which has now seventy beds, and the dispen-
sary are entirely supported by voluntary contribu-
tions. Patients admitted to the hospital on Mondays,
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, between 10 and
11 a.m., on production of an order signed by &
subscriber. Accidents or urgent cases admitted afe
any hour by day or night without an order. Friends^
admitted to see patients on Wednesdays, from 9 to
9.30 a.m., and Sundays, from 2.30 to 3 p.m. Visitors
admitted to the hospital on Tuesdays, Wednesdays^
Fridays, and Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m., but
Wednesdays and Saturdays are preferable.
The Dispensary is open daily at 10.30 for the
treatment of outdoor patients. No line is required
for the dispensary, it is enough that the child is sick
and poor.

The Polyklinik was established in 1885 for the
double purpose of giving gratuitous advice to de-
serving poor people, and of providing opportunities
to senior students for studying the diseases of special
organs under the medical and surgical staff.
Bepartmefits. — Diseases peculiar to women ;
diseases of children ; diseases of the ear, throat and
nose ; and diseases of the skin. Each department is
under a specialist. The dispensary is open daily,
and accommodation is provided for the treatment of
patients in-door.
