CHARITABLE AND FRIENDLY INSTITUTIONS.
CLAN MACKAY SOCIETY
The objects of the society shall be the fostering
and preserving of clan sentiment; the cultivation of
social intercourse among the members ; the rendering
of assistance to deserving clansmen ; the encourage-
ment of education ; and the collecting and preserving
of records and traditions bearing on the history of
the clan. The society shall consist of persons bearing
the surname Mackay ; sha'l be called " The Clan
Mackay Society;" and shall be non-political and
uon- sectarian. The membership is of three classes,
viz., life members, who shall make one payment of
£3 3s. ; extraordinary members, 10s. 6d. ; and
ordinary members, 2s. Cd. annually. The ordinary
meetings are held in the Christian Institute, Bothwell
Street, on the third Thursday of April, November,
January, and March.

SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF
CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.

The object of this society is to prevent by every
legitimate means cruelty to animals. It is supported
by voluntary contributions, and was established in
1856. The cordial co-operation of all classes of the
community is hopefully solicited. It is desired that
every person who witnesses the perpetration of auy
cruelty towards animals should endeavour to ascertain
correctly the name and residence of the offender, and
communicate the same to the chief inspector, when
the matter shall receive immediate and careful atten-
tion.
Sums of 2s. 6d. and upwards appear with sub-
scribers' names and addresses in the annual report.
Legacies and donations are gratefully received and
acknowledged.
CLAN MACDONALD SOCIETY.
I. This Society shall consist of persons (of either
sex) bearing the surname of MacDonald or Mac-
Donell, and shall be non-political and non-sectarian.
II. The objects of the Society shall be the fos-
tering and preservation of clan sentiment ; the culti-
vation of social intercourse among the members ; the
rendering of assistance to aged, infirm, or necessitous
members, their widows and children ; the encourage-
ment of education ; and the collection and preser-
vation of records and traditions bearing on the history
of the Clan.
III. The membership shall consist of three
classes, viz. : — Honorary Members, who shall pay a
subscription of not less than £b 5s. ; Life Members,
who shall make one payment of not less than £2 2s. ;
and Ordinary Members, who shall pay 2s. 6d. annually,
at or before the annual general meeting. New mem-
bers shall be admitted by the council.
IV. The business of the Society shall be managed
by a council, consisting of a Chief, six Chief-
tains, one President, two Vice-Presidents, eighteen
Councillors, a Secretary, an Assistant Secretary, and
a Treasurer, all of whom shall be elected at the
annual general meeting, any seven of whom shall
form a quorum. Two or more pipers may also be
appointed.
V. The ordinary meetings of the Society shall
be held on the first Tuesday of the months of October,
December, February, and April, in each year, and
the annual general meeting on a date fixed by the
council. The council will meet on the last Thurs-
day of each month, but the secretary shall have
power at any time to convene a special meeting of

AGED WOMEN'S SOCIETY.
Mrs. Buchanan, Antermony House, Milton of
Campsie, president ; Mrs. Scott, Clippens House, and
Miss King, 17 Blythswood Square, vice-presidents;
Mrs. E. Caird, the College, treasurer; Mrs. Candlish,
5 Ashton Terrace, Hillhead, and Miss M'Ewen,
11 Park Terrace, secretaries; W. M'EweD, Esq.,
11 Park Ter., auditor. This society has for its
object the relief of widows and unmarried women
above 60 years of age. Before receiving assistance
they are visited at their houses. Any person sub-
scribing 20s., or two subscribers of 10s. each, are
entitled to recommend a pensioner. Twenty ladies
act as visitors, who, with the office-bearers, meet on
the first Wednesday of every month, in the Religious
Institution Rooms.
