THE Prewiuiss at early aisd middle ages, are about a fourth lower than in the other Mutual or Partici-
pating Offices. Tliey are as low as the Naa-participmtMg rates, af the Proprietary Cjmpanies, which
they adnnit of being, not only with safety, bat with ample reversion of Proits to the Policy-holders — beiuf
free from the burden of Dividends to Shareholders.

Thus, a person of 30 may secure £1000 at death for a yearly paynaent of £20 15s., which, if paid to any
of the other Mutual Offices, would secure a Policy for £800 oaly.
The arrang«menfc by which the Premiums are reduced to a. rate coiuraensurate with the risk, is obviously
more suited for securing a competent family provision, in ease of early death, than that which, by the same
yearly outlay, secures a much smaller present sum, with the hope only of prospective and contingent additions.
The Pkofits are divided on a principle at once s;ife, equitable, and favourable to good lives — the Surplus
being reserved fur those members who alone can have made surplus payments; in other words, those whoee
premiums, with accumulated interest, amount to the sums in their Policies.
la this way Policies originally for £1000 which have shared ia two Septennial Divisions, have been
increased in some instances to £1780.
Upwards of 12,000 Policies have been issued, assuring over One Million and a Quarter. The accumu-
lated Fund arising entirely from Premiums, exceeds £773,000.
In all points of practice — as in provision for the sndefeasibility of Policies, facility of license for travellin'^
or residence abroad, and of obtaining advances on the value of the Policies — the regulations of the Society
as well as the administration, are as liberal as is consistent with right principle.
Reports explanatory of the Principles, with every information, may be had oa application at the Head
OiBce; or at the
Office in Glasgow.. 67 ST. VINCENT STREET.
