THE QUEEN INSURANCE OMf \nT—Coiitimed.
RETURN. OF FIRE INSURANCE DUTY FOR THE YEAR 1862,
{Orilered bij the House of Commons to be Printed, 2Br<l Jutie, 1803.)
As in previous years, this Return continues to aiford indisptrtable evidence of the remarkable progress
iiiiide by "Tlie Q.irEK:N Insurance Company," anti f'uritishes anotlier proof of the liigh estimation
in which the Company is held by the Insuring Public.
Taking tlie Offices which had been in operation for two full years at the date to which the Return
ii made up — tlie 25th December, 1862 — and comparing the amount of I>uty collected' in 1862' with
that of 186 1» " The Queen " stands third on the list of Officks showing an inckkase.
ICxcluding the new Offices formed in 1861, owing to their not having been at work for the whole
period embraced in the comparison, the Return shows that " The Queen" was only exceeded in the
increase of Duty of 1862 over 1861 by the other two Liverpool Offices, both of which were in full
operation for many years bf^fore the for.natioii of " The Queicn."
Tlie following statement will show the relative position occupied by "The Qiiekx " in the
list of incrkases, compared with the Tliirty Offices standing below it, vi?,. : — ■
