The PROPOSALS for NEW ASSURANCES received during the 24th
year of the Association, ending 5th April 1863, were 1,707 for £755,417 14 '
Of these the NEW TRANSACTIONS were 1,357 for 617,104 17
The ANNUAL PREMIUMS for these Transactions being 19,829 2
The Total ASSURANCES Transacted since the commencement of the
Institution have been 17,475 for 7,724,666 12
Of these there have been Transacted during the last TEN YEARS... 11,381 for 5,403,728 11
The EXPECTED MORTALITY for the last Three Years, according to
the Tables, was 538 for 219,408 '
While the ACTUAL MORTALITY among the Assured, during the
same period, was only 412 for 164,692 i
The Total SUMS ASSURED paid to the Representatives of Deceased
Policy-holders amount to , 500,981 19 :
And the Total SUMS of Profit paid to the Policy-holders in Cash during
their lives, by Reduction of their Premiums and otherwise, amount
to 203,819 17 i
The Total ANNUAL INCOME from PREMIUMS on POLICIES now
in existence is 144,695 19 1(
The RESERVED and INVESTED FUNDS are upwards of 800,000 (
Assurers in this Office have the Choice of two Schemes. ||!
ORIGINAL SCHEME (A).— ORDINARY ASSURANCE, by which the expense of Life Assurance
is reduced to the lowest scale consistent with security, the Profits being applied in reducing th(
Premiums. The Policies are free from many of the usual restrictions, and become unchallenge'
able after five years. A considerable portion of the first six years' Premiums may remain un-
paid. — [See Prospectus.']
NEW SCHEME (B).— UNCONDITIONAL ASSURANCE, under which the Policies are in effect
Non-forfeitable and Unquestionable. There are no extra charges, and no restriction as to resi-
dence or occupation. There are also other unusual privileges. Policies may be efiected for sum:
INCREASING TO DOUBLE THEIR AMOUNT, and a considerable portion of the Premiunun
may be left unpaid. — [See Prospectus.]
