This Company was established for the purpose of carrying on the business of Life Assurance, in all if|
varieties, on the most liberal and api)roved principles, combining the advantages of a Mutual Assuranc
Society with the security of a Subscribed Capital. While it givts tn the assured the right of largely partici
pating in the Profits of the business, they are totally exempted from the risk wliicb must attend all institution
•)f the kind where the whole security depends on the business being prosperous, and where the risk of an
deficiency must fall upon the Assured.
At the first peiodical investigation, in 1835, a BONUS was added to the Policies which had been in exis
tence for five years, and entitled to participate, varying in waomnfrom twenty to thirty-eight per cent, on th
premiums paid.
Parties insuring with this Company have Ihe option of participating in the Profits; or of assuring at <
lower rate of Premium, without participation.
1. By adopting the former alternative the Assured become entitled \o four-fifths of the Profits.
2. If the objfct be to secure a precise sum, without atiy share of Profits, this can be done by insuring at th
reduced rate of Premium.
In societies on the usual mutual assurance system, the Profits are divisible among all the parties assured, bu
in this Company, those assured on* the participation scheme have thf additional binefit of the Profit arisiii]
from the Assurances effected on the non-participation system, as well as oiall the other Profits of the businesi
No entry money, or any other charge beyond the policy stamp.
