On Newspapers forwarded by the monthly closed Mail, and not via Falmouth, or to
and from the East Inches, Malta, or any other place in the Mediterranean, the rate will
be 3d. each.
On Newspapers to and from all other countries, either on the Continent of Europe
or beyond Sea, passing through France, the rate will be 2d. each. Prices Current
and Commercial Lists duly stamped enjoy the same privilege as Newspapers.
PERIODICAL WORKS AND PARLIAMENTARY PROCEEDINGS.
Periodical Works, not strictly Newspapers, which are published as Pamphlets, and
Parliamentary Proceedings, may be forwarded to France, but to France only, under
the following regulations : —
Firstly, The Postage must be paid in advance.
Secondly, They must be sent in Covers open at the sides.
Thirdly, They must be printed in the English language.
The rates of Postage on such Works and Parliamentary Proceedings will be as
follows : —
Not exceeding two ounces in weight , Id.
Above two ounces and not exceeding three ounces 6d.
Above three ounces and not exceeding four ounces 8d.
And 2d. for every additional ounce up to the weight of sixteen ounces, beyond which
weight no publication can be forwarded.
The regular Mails will be dispatched as at present from Dover to Calais, but Ship-
Letter Bags will be made up between the following places, viz. : —
London and Boulogne. Dover and Boulogne. Brighton and Havre.
London and Havre. Brighton and Dieppe. Southampton and Havre.
Dover and Calais.
The above-mentioned Rates and Regulations apply equally to all Letters passing
between England and France, whether forwarded by the regular Mail Packet or by
Private Ship.
It must, however, be distinctly understood that all Letters will be forwarded by the
regular Mail from London, via Dover and Calais, unless specially addressed by Private
Ship, and unless the route is specified.
The following TABLE shows what Letters may be sent unpaid, and what are the lotvest
Mates on those Letters which require payment in advance in order to be forwarded.
