COUNTY DIRECTORY OF SCOTLAND.
Variously computed "Populations."
The populations given for the Civil Counties differ from those of the Local Government 07ies in
Appendix D., the populations of the Burghs being deducted in the latter.
Small Type Entries.
All the small type entries have been corrected with Official Lists, supplemented with information
given effect to in the proof sheets. Some Medical Practitioners retired from practice have desired
that their names should not appear ; on the other hand, there are many young practitioners whose
addresses are not of a permanent nature.
Peers and Mbmbeks of Parliament.
Peers connected with Scotland, and Members of Parliament, are given in Appendix A.
Provosts. Conveners. Chairmen.
Provosts of Burghs will be found in Appendix B. ; Conveiiers and Chairmen of County Councils
in AjjpeTidix 0. ; Chairmen of Parochial Boards in Appendix D.
