IGLASGOW MEDICAL MISSIONARY SOCIETY.
Objects of the society — 1. To carry on medical
mission work among the poor in Glasgovr. 2. To
encourage a missionary spirit among medical students
in Glasgow. 3. To co-operate with kindred societies
in training and supporting medical missionaries.

day evangelistic meetings are held in both dispensaries
at half-past two and seven o'clock.

GLASGOW CORN TRADE BENEVOLENT
ASSOCIATION.

Object. — To provide allowances for decayed mem-
bers and for relatives of deceased members who were
dependent on them prior to their decease. After
such cases are provided for the directors may grant
relief not exceeding one-fifth of the entire free annual
revenue to persons in necessitous circumstances who,
though not members of the Association, have been
engaged as principals or employees in the corn trade
in Glasgow and neighbourhood. Membership con-
sists of corn merchants and their chief clerks and
salesmen. Payment of £10 as entry money consti-
tutes life membership. Capital in 1894 amounted to
£1-195.
THE BALMANNO BEQUEST.
Founded by the late Miss Balmanno, in 1856, for
Iproviding anouities of £20 each, to unmarried ladies,
'natives of Glasgow, not under 40 years of age, who
have been brought up in the prospect of independence,
and accustomed to superior society, but who from
adversity may have fallen into reduced circumstances.
There are at present seven annuitants.

The objects of this soeiety'are to afford aid to in-
digent persons belonging to Bute— principally such
as are of advanced age and respectability of character.
No person in receipt of parochial relief to receive
the benefits of the society, except in extraordinary
circumstances.
A single payment of two guineas constitutes life
membership. Ladies admitted as life members on a
single payment of one guinea.

This society was instituted in 1797 by several
gentlemen residing in or near Glasgow connected by
birth or otherwise with the parish of Eastwood, for
the purpose of holding a social meeting once a year,
and of collecting a sum of money for distribution
among the deserving poor of that parish. About
£118 is annually distributed at the end of December,
each recipient getting 12s. The annual meeting
is held on the second Wednesday of December, to
which all connected with the parish of Eastwood are
invited.
