XXX IX
ARDENLEE, HELENSBURGH.
ME. WILKINS receives Boys, from Seven years of age, to prepare for
Eton, Harrow, and other Public Schools, and especially for Trinity
College, Glenalmond, and Loretto School, Mid-Lothian.
The School will be essentially preparatory ; and great pains will be taken
to insure correct English Eeading, Spelling, and Pronunciation, and good
Handwriting, as well as a thorough grounding in the elements of a Classical
and Mathematical Education.
Whilst every care will be taken about the intellectual progress of the
Boys, the hours devoted to study will not be too long, and will vary with
the season of the year, so that abundance of out-of-door exercise may be
lenjoyed.
The climate of Helensburgh is remarkably healthy, and as it is very mild
in Winter, it is equally adapted for strong or delicate boys, and to the latter
especial attention will be paid. Ardenlee stands in its own grounds of two
lacres, and is situate in the best part of Helensburgh, nearly half a mile up
the hill from the Clyde. The domestic arrangements are under the care of
Miss Wilkins ; and a Lady of great experience in the education of Boys
lassists in the instruction of the younger pupils.
The year will be divided into three terms, separated by the holidays, which
will consist of the months of August and September, and of shorter holidays
at Christmas, and about the middle of April.
Boys from India, etc., received.
