THE 5 PER CENT. DEBENTURE POLICY
issued by the Company provides that instead of the principal being paid to the bene-
ficiary at the death of the Insured, it is held in Trust by the Company, which pays an
Income at the rate of 5 per Cent, per annum to the beneficiary for Twenty Years,
at the expiration of which time the whole of the principal is paid. Should the bene-
ficiary die sooner than Twenty Years after the death of the Insured, the principal is
paid to the estate of the former.
THE CONTINUOUS INSTALMENT POLICY
is another contract by which at a low premium an Income may be secured to the
beneficiary for life : the sum insured being payable by Twentj* Annual Instalments,
these payments being continued for the lifetime of the beneficiary should that be
longer than Twenty Years after the death of the Insiued.
LIFE OPTION ENDOWMENTS
provide an Income for the later years of the Insured himself ; the Company agrees to
hold the amount of Endowment Insurances till the death of the Insured, pajing him
annually a sum equal to 4 per Cent, per annum upon the Endowment and Bonuses
from the maturity of the endowment till the death of the policy-holder, and then
paying the principal to his estate.
BRITISH BUSINESS.
The progress of the Mutual of New York in the United Kingdom has been
phenomenal. It commenced business in this country in 1887. The total Premium
Income for the British Branch in 1896 amounted to no less than £331,000, being an
increase of £91,000 over the Premium Income of the previous year. All the policies
issued in Great Britain are expressly made subject to British Law, and are payable in
sterling at the London Office.
