No compensation (either for loss or damage) will be given in respect of a
parcel containing (1) anything which may not be sent by Inland Parcel Post ;
/2) money ; (3) a watch or jewellery, unless registered.
1^ No compensation will be given in respect of damage to a parcel containing
^â– eggs, soft fruit, liquids, or any exceptionally fragile or perishable articles ;
'but, in all such cases, compensation will be given in respect of the loss of the
J parcel, or of any article contained therein.
Inland Eegistration.
The fee for registering any Inland postal packet (parcels included) is
twopence, and this registration fee and the postage must be jDrepaid.
The Postmaster-General will (subject to certain rules) give compensation
ap to a limit of £5 for the loss and damage of any Inland Registered Packets
upon which this fee has been paid in addition to the postage ; and he wiU
jjrant compensation beyond £5 and up to a limit of £50 upon prepayment of a
fee in addition to the postage and the ordinary registration fee. The scale of
fees and the respective limits of compensation are as follows : —

' Every article presented for registration must be enclosed in a strong cover,
jecurely fastened. It must be given to an Agent of the Post Office, and a
receipt obtained for it. If, contrary to this rule, an article marked
"Registered" be dropped into a letter-box, it will be liable to a registration
lee of 4d (less any amount prepaid for registration).
Every article presented for registration should be marked "Registered,"
md with the amount of the fee proper to the value up to which the sender
iesires to secure compensation, thus — " Registered 2d," or "Registered 3d."
Inland postal packets containing coin, watches, or jewellery, if posted
ivithout registration, are subject to compulsory registration, and are charged
m delivery with a fee of 4d, in addition to the ordinary postage. Letters
icfcontaining Postal Orders in which the name of the payee has not been
mlinserted, uncrossed cheques, dividend warrants, bank notes, postage stamps
10 the value of more than a shilling, and any other article of a value exceeding
;|)ne shilling, will, when found open in the post, or when opened in the
Returned Letter Office, be subject to registration, and be chargeable with
I registration fee of 2d.
The sender of an Inland postal packet may obtain an acknowledgment of its
injliue delivery by paying, at the time of posting, a fee of 2d in addition to the
postage and registration fee.
The registered Parcel Post is also available for watches and jewellery.
Money may also be sent in a registered parcel, but no compensation will be
jiven in respect of the loss or damage of such parcel.
Re-direction.
Letters, book packets, post cards, newspapers, and sample packets are not
iable to additional postage for re-direction, whether re-directed by an officer
)f the Post Office or by an agent of the addressee after delivery, provided in
(he latter case that the letters, &c., are re-posted not later than the day
Sundays and public holidays not being counted) after delivery, and that they
lo not appear to have been opened or tampered with.
*?| Parcels are, when re-directed, liable to additional postage at the prepaid"
*|'ate for each re-direction, except where the original and corrected addresses
'!" ire both within a delivery from the same Post Office.
Registered letters, &c., when re-directed, must either have the word " regis-
