PARISHES.
entering off the west side of Libberton's wynd, near
the foot, and the closes betwixt Libberton and For-
rester's wynds, which are declared to be part of the
New North kirk parish.
Wester Greyfriars,
IX. From Port of Bow, west side of the Bow,
and along to the West Port, north side, from West
Port, south side, round to Bristo Port, from Bristo
Port, east side, the Society, and down east side of
Candlemaker row to the head of the Cowgate,
Extended Royalty.
I. St Andrew's Parish comprehends those por-
tions of the extended royalty to the east of a line
drawn from the southern boundary of said royalty,
at the Earthen Mound, through the centre of
Hanover street to the centre of Qaeen street ; and
to the south of a line from thence eastwards along
the centre of Queen street, York place, and Picardy
place, and down Leith Walk to the extremity of
the royalty at the bottom of Elm row.
II. St George's Parish comprehends those por-
tions of the extended royalty to the west of a line
drawn from the southern boundary of said royalty,
at the Earthen Mound, through the centre of Ha-
nover street to tlie centre of Queen street and to
the south of a line from thence westwards along the
centre of Queen street to the western boundary of
the extended royalty. The lands of West Coates
and part of East Dairy, being within the extended
roj-alty, when feued and built upon, will fall to be
added to St George's Parish. They are inclnded
in this description.
III. St Mary's Parish comprehends those por-
tions of the extended royalty to the east of a line
drawn from the northern boundary of said royalty
through the centre of Pitt street and Dundas street
to a point in the centre of Queen street opposite to
Hanover street, and on the north of a line from
that point eastwards through the centre of Queen
street, York place, and Picardy place, and Leith
walk, to the boundary of said royalty at a point in
Leith walk opposite to Union street. The lands
of Logie-green, Broughton park, Blandfield, and
Park of Powderhall, being within the extended
royalty, will fall to be added to St Mary's Parish
when feued and built upon. They are included in
this description.
IV. St Stephen's Parish comprehends those por-
tions of the extended royalty to the west of a line
drawn from the northern boundary of said royalty
through the centre of Canonmills road opposite to
Brandon street, Pitt street, and Dundas street, to
a point in the centre of Queen street opposite to
Hanover street, and on the north of a line from that
point westwards through the centre of Queen street
to the boundary of the royalty at St Colm's street.
The Deaf and Dumb Institution, New Academy,
and feus of Heriot's Hospital as far east as Brandon
street, being within the extended royalty, are in-
cluded in St Stephen's Parish, and are comprehended
in this description.
MUNICIPAL WARDS.
Ward I. — That part of the ancient royalty situate
south of the High street and Canongate, from the
Castle-hill Esplanade to St John's Cross, bounded

on the south, east, and v/est by the boundary line
of the rojralty running from St John's Cross to the
south back of the Canongate, the street of south
back of Canongate to the Cowgate port, and thence
by the line of the Old Town Vi'all, by the west end
of the Grassmarket to the Castle-hill ; also that
part of the ancient royalty lying north of the High
street, from the Castle-hill Esplanade to Bank street,
bounded on the east, north, and wes t, by Bank street.
Mound place, and the Prince's street gardens.
Ward II. — Those parts of the ancient and ex-
tended royalty comprehended v.-ithin the following
limits, viz. : — From Bank street along the High
street to the head of Leith wynd, down Leith Vi^ynd,
round by the back of the College kirkyard, and
including tlie houses of Shakspeare square, and both
sides of Waterloo place ; and then along the bound-
ary line of the royalty that intersects the Register
house, west Register street, tlie Royal Bank and
Elder street, to the foot of the Catholic chapel lane,
at Broughton street ; thence along York place,
north and south St David street. Prince's street,
west side of the Earthen Mound, Mound place, and
Bank street.
Ward III. — Those parts of the extended royalty
comprehended within the following limits, viz. : —
From a point at the east end of York place at the
intersection of Broughton street, along York place
and Queen street to Hanover street, down Dundas
street and Pitt street, along east Fettes row. Royal
crescent. Kirk-lane at Canonmills, the High road
from Canonmills to Broughton, Broughton street,
to the place where it is intersected by the line of
the royalty ; thence along the line of the roj'alty
intersecting Forth street and Hart street, East
Broughton place, along Union street, across Leith
walk, down Elm row, along the northern boundary
of the royalty intersecting Windsor street, and from
the eastern extremity of that boundary round the
Caltonhill, including the west end of Regent terrace,
Blenheim place, Leopold place, Hillside crescent,
and part of Windsor street ; and thence along
Greenside and Broughton streets to the east end of
York place.
Ward IV. — Those parts of the extended royalty
comprehended within the following limits, viz. : —
From a point at the intersection of Fettes row and
Pitt street, along Pitt street, Dundas street. Queen
street, north St David street, west side of St An-
drew square, south St David street, Prince's street,
Frederick street, Howe street, St Vincent street,
west Fettes row, and the irregular boundary line of
the royalty running from Fettes row to St Vincent
street ; also the ground formerly called the Distil-
lery park, upon which Henderson row, the Edin-
burgh Academy,and the Deaf and Dumb Institution
are now built.
Ward V. — Those parts of the extended royalty
comprehended within the following limits, viz. : —
From a point at the intersection of south Frederick
street and Prince's street, along Frederick street,
Howe street, to near the foot of St Vincent street ;
thence along the line of the royalty intersecting
Circus lane, India street, India place, Mackenzie
place, Moray place, St Colme street, Glenfinlas street,
Charlotte place, to Queensferry street •, and then
along that street, and Prince's street to the point first
