Note. — In the above valuations, standard gold is estimated at 77s. lO^d., and silver at 5s. 6dper ounce,
an overvaluation at present, but in countries with a silver standard, such as India, the relative sterling value
of money changes with the current price of silver, which, in November, 1892, was 3s. 3d. per oz., the rupee '
being at that date about Is. 3d. of sterling value. No account is here taken of the value of paper notes ;
having a forced currencij and only convertible from the nominal value to gold at a greater or less discount.
