Instituted 1865.
The Society lias for its object the religious, educa-
tional, and social elevation of the boys and girls of
Glasgow. Membership — 21,000 bo3's and girls, and
2412 voluntary workers. It has 88 branches in the
city and suburbs.

The objects of this Society are to promote peace
on earth and goodwill among men, to discountenance
war, to advocate general disarmament, and to insist
on the adoption of arbitration or other reasonable
and humane methods in the settlement of inter-
national disputes. All persons willing to promote
the Society's objects are eligible for membership.
Contributions voluntary.
The secretary will be glad to arrange for lectures
and to furnish additional information.

WEST COAST MISSION ; OE, THE SOCIETY
FOR THE PEOMOTION OF EELIGION IN
THE WEST HIGHLANDS AND ISLANDS OF
SCOTLAND.
This mission was instituted in 1855. Its object
is the spread of the Gospel amongst the scattered
population of the western islands of Scotland. There
are thirty agents engaged in this work. Its funda-
mental principles are evangelical and nnsectarian.

The general objects of the Society are : to encourage
friendly association among those engaged in social
work in Glasgow, to promote sympathetic fellowship
between the well-to-do inhabitants and their poorer
fellow-citizens, and to improve the physical, moral,
and social condition of the latter. All willing to
assist in advancing the above objects are eligible for
membership, and societies working on similar lines
are eligible for affiliation.
