The objects of the Association are to inform the
public by lectures, pamphlets, &c., in regard to the
injurious effects of Co-operative and Civil Service
Stores on the trade of the country, and to establish
branch Associations throughout Scotland; to bring
before the Legislatui'e the unjust burden traders have
to bear in comparison with these Stores in reference
to income tax, &c. ; to endeavour to further the
interests of its members in every legitimate way the
Association may from time to time devise, &c.
THE INSTITUTE OF CONSULTING
ENGINEERS.
The objects for which the association is established
are: — (1) The consideration and discussion of all
subjects and questions connected directly or indirectly
with the profession of consulting engineers. (2) To
adopt such means as may be found necessary for the
protection of the interests of the members of the
association, and for the maintenance of the usefulness
of the profession for the public advantage. (3) The
establishment of a uniform rate of charge by the
members for professional business in cases where no
.special agreement as to remuneration is made by the
parties. (4) The doing of all such other things as
are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the
above objects.
