This society was instituted in 1797 by several
gentlemen residing in or near Glasgow connected by
birth or otherwise with the parish of Eastwood, for
the purpose of holding a social meeting once a year,
and of collecting a sum of money for distribution
among the deserving poor of that parish. About
£130 is annually distributed at the end of December,
each recipient getting 12s. 6d. The annual meeting
is held on the second Wednesday of December, to
which all connected with the parish of Eastwood are
invited.

This society is established to provide, at moderate
rates of premium, for the relief of members during
sickness or other infirmity, and for a sum to be paid
at death. The benefits are, 20s. per week during
sickness and j£10 at death. Copies of rules and
forms of application may be had from the manager or
any of the office-bearers.
COLQUHOUN BEQUEST FUND FOE
INCURABLES.
Founded in 1873 by the late Archibald Colquhoun,
Esq., of Eiddrie Park, merchant in Glasgow, its ob-
ject being the application of the free income of the
trust in '' the relief of poor persons residing in
Glasgow or its immediate neighbourhood who may
either have been dismissed as incurable from the
Glasgow Eoyal Infirmary or other hospitals in Glas-
gow, or who are afflicted with incurable disease, and
so destitute and helpless as to be proper objects of
charity." The capital of the trust amounts at present
to about £21,800, and the income is administered by
a body of trustees, assisted by a staff of lady visitors.
The sum distributed for the year 1888-89 was about
£760, which was dispensed in amounts ranging from
£3 5 s. to £13 each per annum. Contributions to-
wards either capital or revenue will be received by the
treasurers, J. & J. Boyd & Miller, 95 Wellington
Street, Glasgow, who will also furnish information
as to the terms of the Trust Deed.
GRAHAM CHARITABLE.
None are eligible as members of the society except
persons of the name of Graham and their descendants,
or those married to individuals of that name or their
descendants. The entry-money to strangers is £5-
OS., and to sons and other lineal descendants and-
sons-in-law of members, £3 3s.

LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR,
ST. JOSEPH'S HOME FOE THE AGED.

This institution was founded at Glasgow in 1862',
and contains now 285 aged poor of both sexes.
The Sisters have no funds whatever; they support
the aged poor by whatever public charity afibrds, and'
therefore most gratefully accept cast-off clothes, furni-
ture, donations in money, or anything that may be-
offered. This house has just been enlarged, a heavy-
debt still remains, the Sisters beg to solicit their bene-
factors and the friends of the poor to remember them
in their charities or legacies.

KILMUN SEASIDE HOME.
A sea-side home at Kilmnn for invalid poor,
whose health is likely to be restored by a couple of'
weeks or so of fresh air, nourishing diet, and cheer-
ful surroundings, and who are entii-ely without the means
of securing such for themselves. It is capable of
accommodating about 100 persons, and is entirely
supported by voluntary contributions. Poverty and
infirmity are the sole qualifications of admission.
Since its institution upwards of 18,000 poor people
have had the benefit of it free of charge. James Airlie, ,

GLASGOW DAY NURSEEIES ASSOCIATION.
These nurseries are — 79 M'Alpine St., Anderston;
31 Dalmarnock Eoad, Bridgeton; 6 Corn Street,.
Garscube Eoad, Cowcaddens ; 53 Castlebank Street,
Partick; 136 Vennont Street, Kinning Pai-k; and
26 South Wellington Street, Hutchesontown, and
are for childi-en whose parents require to leave-
them to go out to work, as in the case of widows,-
widowers, deserted mothers, &c. ; 3d. per day being
paid for each child, they are partly self-supporting^ ■
