On Suudaye and Fast-Days, One Collection only is made, and that from the Pillar and Wall Letter-Boses.
ORDINARY RATES OF POSTAGE AND CONDITIONS OF TRANSMISSION.
Inland Litters.'*
1. The rates of postage when prepaid are :

2. A letter posted unpaid is chargeable on delivery
\vit« double postitge; if insufficiently prepaid, with
double the deficiency
3. No letter may be above 18 inches in length,
9 inches in width, or 6 inches in depth, unless it
be sent to or from a government office.
Inland Newspapers.
1. Any publication fulfilling the conditioDB here-
after named can, upon payment of an annual fee of
5s., be regijtered at the General Pott office to paiss
within the United Kingdom as a newspaper for a
postage (,f one halfpenny. Unregistered, a newspaper
is liable to ihe bnok rate of postage,
2. Tr>e conditions are as follows: —
1st. The publication must consi.^t wholly or in
great part of political or other nevrs, or of articles
relating thereto, or to other current topics, with or
without ailvertisemenis.
2nd. It must be printed and pnblisiiei in the
* Inland letters .ire those whicli pass between places
in the United Kingdom, inclnding tlie Isle of Man, the
Orkacy, fehetland, ScUly, and Channel Islands.
United Kingdom, and in nnmbers at intervals of not
more thin seven days.
Srd. The full tide and dale of publication must be
printed at the top of the first page, and the whole
or part of the title and the date at the top of every
subsequent p'Jge; and this regulation applies to
" Tables of Contents " and ''Indices."
4th. A supplement must consist wholly or in
great part of matter like that of a newspaper, or of
advei tisements, piloted on a sheet or sheets, or on
a piece or pieces of paper, unstitched; or wholly or
in part tf engravings, prints, or lithographs illustra-
tive of ar.icles in the newspaper. It must in every
case be published with the newspaper, and must
have the title and date prin'ed at the top of every
page; or, if it consists of engravings, prints, or
lithographs, at the top of every sheet or side.
3. ReKisiraiion for inland circulation inclr.des
registration for transntiission abroad.
4. A packet containing two or more registered
newspapers is not chargeable with a higher rata
of postage than would be chargeable on a book,
packet of the same weight, viz., one halfpenny for
every 2 oz. or part of that weight.
6. A newspsiper posted unpaid, or a packet of
newspapers posted either unpaid, or insufficiently paid,
is treated as an unpaid or insufficiently paid book
packet of the same weiglit.
6. The postage must be prepaid , and for each
transmission a fresh postage is required.
7. A newspaper, if posted in a cover, must have
such cover open at both end.s, so as to admit of easy
inspection,* otherwise it will be treated as a letter.
' In order that no failure may occur in the delivei y of
new.spaperE through the covers becoming detached, it is
recoiiimended that the addresses be written on e-xpose4
parts cf the newspapers tliemselves as well as on the
coverg.
