ROYAL INFIRMARY
^P^HIS Institution has now been in existence for nearly a Centui
-»- It has accommodation for 550 Patients, and the Wards
generally full.
Though managed on the strictest economic principles, the Oi
nary Expenditure of last year was nearly £25,000 ; while
Ordinary Income, including about £4000 of Interest on Legac
invested, was under £19,000.
For a number of years the Ordinary Expenditure has been,
an average, about £5000 in excess of the Ordinary Income. Thp
has, consequently, been a serious drain upon Invested Fun<
and this cannot long continue, as a considerable portion is beyc
the control of the Directors, and partly held in Trust, liable <h
Repayment.
They, therefore, earnestly appeal to the Public for increasj
Liberality, in order that the same state of efficiency may E
maintained, without the necessity of curtailing the accommodati
The most recent improvements in the Nursing System, and jj ]■
the Domestic Arrangements, have been introduced : and i
Directors have reason to believe that there is no similar Institut:
in the Kingdom, in which Patients are so well provided for at i
little expense.
