WEAVERS' SOCIETY OF ANDERSTON.

The object of this Society is to afford charitable aid
to such of its members and their widows as may be
reduced to destitute circumstances. The fee or entry
money, payable by a son or son-in-law of a member,
or by an apprentice indentured to a member (a weaver
by trade), is £2 2s., and the entrance fee payable by
all others is £5 5s., with the addition of 2s. per
annum in the case of sons, sons-in-law, and appren-
tices, and of 5s. per annum in the case of all others,
for every year the applicant exceeds 30 years of age
at the date of his admission. Members must not be
under the age of 14 when admitted, nor above the
age of 45, and must be resident in the district
formerly known as the burgh of Anderston, or neigh-
bourhood thereof.

Instituted 1825.

The club, besides the promotion of friendly feeling,
affords assistance and counsel to deserving natives of
Kintyre, and provides bursaries and prizes for the
encouragement of education in the various schools
throughout Kintyre, and in Glasgow University.
Membership is constituted by payment of 3 guineas
either in one sum or spread over 3 years.

Friday evening at 8 o'clock. South-side Bethel
services at 2 p.m. and 6.30 on Sabbaths; and
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, at T.SO p.m.
The above society, instituted to promote the tem-
poral and spiritual interests of seamen, provides suit-
able chapel and mission stations, supports a chaplain
and missionaries, educates seamen's orphan children,
supplies Scripture tracts and libraries to ships, relieves
extraordinary cases of destitution, and offers the ad-
vantages of the Seamen'slnstitute free to sailors ; is
entirely supported by voluntary contributions. Lega-
cies, donations, and subscriptions earnestly solicited.
PRISON GATE MISSION.
23 William Street, Calton.
This institution is for the purpose of providing
employment for discharged female prisoners who are
desirous of doing better. The women are employed
in washing and laundry work, sewing, and knitting,
for which they are paid a small daily wage and their
food. Average number of inmates 53, of whom
about 20 lodge in the Home.

BLACK'S BEQUEST FOR DOMESTIC
SERVANTS.
Founded by Dr. James Black, sometime surgeon in
Jamaica, afterwards residing in Glasgow, and who
died in 1834. The funds arc to be given to faithful
domestic servants settled in Glasgow or neighbour-
hood, who have been ten years or upwards in one
situation. Amount, £2 10s. per annum. There are
about 200 pensioners. Factors, Mitchell, Cowan, &
Johnston, 160 West George Street.
