Established 1869.
Elementary and Reporting Classes meet every
Thursday at eight p.m.
Objects of the Association: — To facilitate a more
general acquaintance between writers of shorthand,
by means of periodical meetings. To conduct clas-
cs for instruction in shorthand, and to provide
special facilities for promoting the reporting pro-
ficiency of those who are desirous of advancing them-
selves in the art. To qualify its members for the
acceptance of positions as shorthand clerks, amanuen-
ses, &c., in legal, commercial, and other offices, by
examinations and certificates for stenographic pro-
ficiency. -To afford aids to shorthand writers requir-
ing such business engagements, by direct communi-
cation with employers on their behalf, and the exer-
tion and influence of the Association. Thomas
