This charitable institution is supported by public
and voluntary subscription, its object being the ad-
vancement of this special department of medical
science by lectures and clinical teaching to students,
and the gratuitous treatment of poor persons suffer-
ing from all forms of ear disease and deafness.
Number of cases treated annually about 1000.
The hospital, which contains 12 beds for in-door
patients, is always open for urgent cases. Hours of
Surgeons' visit, 3 p.m. daily. Out-door patients are
seen on Tuesdays, Wednesays, Thursdays, and
Fridays at 4 p.m. by Dr. Cassells and assistants.

Incorporated by seal of cause from the Magistrates
and Town Council, and supported by voluntary
contributions.
This institution was formed in 1805, for the cure
of unfortunate females. The directors are chosen
annually, and consist of one from the Clergy, one
from the Town Council, one from the Merchants'
House, one from the Trades' House, two from the
Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons, and six from
the general body of subscribers.

The Glasgow Royal Asylum is incorporated by
royal charter. Its affairs are managed by directors,
who are in part deputed from various public bodies
in the city, and in part appointed by the qualified
contributors to the funds of the Institution.
The Asylum provides accommodation for over 500
patients from all grades of society, and at all rates of
Ijoard. No one derives any pecuniary gain from the
boards paid for patients. Application for the ad-
mission of patients should be made to Dr. Yellow-
lees, the physician superintendent, at the Asylum.
When practicable the application should be personal
rather than by letter.

o'clock.
