The Publishers of the Post-Office Glasgow Directory, in issuing the forty-third
edition, beg to express their gratitude for the liberal patronage hitherto bestowed
on the publication. It has always been their desire that the information it con-
tained should keep pace with the commercial progress and general requirements
of the City, with whose growth it has grown ; and they trust that their efforts
this year have been so far successful. No trouble has been spared to render it as
accurate and complete as possible.
The annexed plan of the city, specially prepared by J. Bartholomew, F.E.G.S.,
has been revised to date; and besides the extensive additions made to it last year,
there has also been added a considerable extension to the south, comprising seven
and a half square miles, which includes the whole of the Queen's Park and sur-
rounding suburbs, reaching to Rutherglen, Langside, Crossmyloof, Pollokshaws, &c.
The nomenclature of the streets has also been improved and extended, greatly
enhancing the value of the Directory.
