PREFACE.
The Publishers beg to acknowledge with much pleasure the many tokens of satisfaction
which their new Plan of Glasgow elicited last year, and which has been carefully
revised down to date, making it as perfect and complete as possible. They have also
to intimate that several additional lists appear in the Directory for the first time — ■
among which may be mentioned, the Customs' Tariff, Excise Duties, Government
Annuities, Post Office Annuities and Insurances, and Foreign and Colonial Moneys
and Exchanges — very valuable to a mercantile community.
The Directory is also printed on a heavier and better quality of Paper, bringing
out in greater distinctness the generally neat character of the type hitherto in use,
which the Publishers trust will give general satisfaction. The Publishers also beg to
announce that the size of the Directory has been considerably increased, owing to a
large accession of new Names, new Streets, and other important matter, extending to
upwards of 50 pages of letterpress over the previous Volume.
Thanking the Public for past favours, the Publishers beg to solicit a continuance of
their support and confidence.
Post Office, Glasgow, 1st June, 186G.
