probation) are entitled to 10s. 6d. or 21s. per week
sick benefit, according to contribution, while they
may be unable to attend their usual avocations, and
without reduction of the rale in protracted sickness.
Immediately after the entry money is paid, the
society becomes liable for the funeral money of £10
or £20, as may have been contributed for. An
annuity of £6 or £12 is also provided to all members
after attaining the age of 70, when the contributions
cease. For the year ending 31st December, 1874,
£943 14s. 4d. was paid as benefit from the funds
of the society, and from the society's origin a total
of £14,550 Gs. 9d. has been so paid. The entry-
money is one quarter's contributions (which ranges
from 4s. lOd. at 19, to lis. 7£d. at 45) with 2s. 6d.
for certificates, &c. Office, 83 West Regent Street.
KINTYRE CLUB.
The objects of the club are, the social and rational
enjoyment of the members; the relief and support of
decayed and indigent individuals, or families, who
have either been born, or are descendants of parents
born, in Kintyre; and the encouragement of learning
and industry in that district by educating poor chil-
dren, distributing prizes annually to the various
sehools, and awarding bursaries to deserving students.
The preses, directors, treasurer, and secretary, for the
time being, are the patrons of the "Kintyre bur-
sary," founded by Robert Ker of Auchinraith in 1862.
The entry money of ordinary members is £3 3s., and
honorary members £2 2s. Thomas J. Smillie, writer,

GLASGOW NORTH BRITON'S FRIENDLY
SOCIETY.
This Society has for its object the relief of its
Members who may be incapable of attending to busi-
sess through sickness &c, and for securing at death
a payment for Funeral Expenses. The Sick Allow-
ance after one year's probation is 10s. weekly for
Yhirtean weeks, 7s. Gd. for thirteen weeks, 5s. for
thirteen weeks, and 3s. weekly while the indisposi-
tion continues, and Ten Pounds for funeral expenses.

M 'ALPINE'S MORTIFICATION.
Founded in 1811 by Mrs. M'Alpine, who conveyed
to trustees her property for the maintenance of poor
men and women of the description given in her will
— the former receiving anniiMlly £10, and the latter
£5. The trustees are the Deacon Convener and the
Banisters of eight of the Established Churches.

A member of this society who has been 12 months
enrolled, on being incapacitated by disease, accident,
or infirmity, from following his usual avocation, is
entitled to receive £1 per week. On the death of a
member who has been 12 months enrolled, the so-
ciety pays £10 to the nearest of kin, or other
person taking charge of his funeral. Annual meeting
in Glasgow on the fourth Friday of January. The
directors meet on the first Tuesday of each month.
Number of members, 1,249; annual contributions
of members, 2,601 14s. 4d. ; total annual income,
£3,911 Is. 5d. ; amount of funds invested or in bank,
£30,G88 10s. 5d. ; benefits paid since the formation
